Read this for some free advice for a more fulfilling, in all aspects, including financial, career in marketing
We use marketing as a catch-all for dozens of roles, responsibilities, and aspects of the game.
Design, writing, strategy, brand, tactics, tools, technology, advising, direction; web, social, broadcast, out-of-home; video, print, digital, paid media, earned media, etc. It is all marketing.
Master the 4Ps.
Product, Price, Place, Promotion.
Most marketers are one or two P marketers. Yet the ones who understand and are savvy in all 4Ps can bring a high value point of view to the adult table, with a high level, holistic, and integrated perspective that is in high demand.
I don’t care if you are a graphic designer and only want to do the design work; with a mastery of the 4Ps, you’ll be in higher demand and do more fulfilling work.
If you aspire to have a standing seat at the adult table, both in-house and with clients, then your ticket to the table is the 4Ps.
I have seen people claim the 4Ps are irrelevant. But that type of thinking is foolish. I have been a director or executive-level for most of my career. Was it because I was the most creative and strategic-minded person? That doesn’t hurt, and it paved my way to the executive suite, but my mastery of the 4Ps guaranteed my seat at the table.
What do you think?
